There are simple steps you can take to keep your baby safe whilst they sleep and reduce the risk of Sudden Unexplained Death of an Infant (SUDI) formally referred to as ‘cot death’ or SIDS. We do not know what causes SUDI. For many babies it is likely that a combination of factors affects them at a vulnerable stage of their development, which leads them to die suddenly and unexpectedly.
However, we do know you can significantly reduce the chance of SUDI occurring by following safer sleep advice. This can give you peace of mind to enjoy your special time with your baby.

If you are going away this summer with your baby please plan ahead and think about Safe sleep, ensuring your baby has a safe space to sleep and the person putting them to bed knows about safe sleep, can reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death (SIDs).
