Slough Child and Family Wellbeing health visiting team is here to help make sure that all children have the best start in life. Health Visitors are fully qualified nurses or midwives who have undertaken additional training to become specialist community public health nurses. Our health visiting service to you starts at 28 weeks of pregnancy and continues until your child goes to school. Throughout this time, we will provide you with support and information on a range of health topics such as feeding your baby, healthy growth and development, emotional wellbeing, and access to services.
We are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of you and your child so will have a minimum of five contacts with you.
We help all families in Slough with children under 5 years old who are not yet in school. We will automatically know about your family if you have a baby or move into the area, and we will contact you to book an appointment.
You can also get in touch with us directly if you need advice or information about you or your child’s health and wellbeing.
Each family’s needs are different, and our team will support you throughout the early days of your baby’s life.
You will receive an antenatal contact after 28 weeks of pregnancy, a visit during the first two weeks of your baby’s life, and another contact at 6-8 weeks.
We will assess your child’s development when they are between 8 and 12 months old and again between 2 and 2.5 years old.
Our team can offer support and advice at any time in between these core contacts.
At each visit you will have the opportunity to talk with your health visitor about how things are going, and when the baby arrives how your baby is doing.
The health visitor will provide information about how to care for your baby and how to play and talk with your baby to help them grow and learn. They will support you to identify and plan for your baby’s needs, your needs, and your family’s needs.
The health visitor may take photos or videos with your permission.
Our health visiting team includes health visitors, staff nurses, student health visitors, staff nurses, community nursery nurses, student nurses and administrators.
